The Union Electric Bagnell Dam & Osage Hydroelectric Plant has been generating electricity since 1931. A park above the dam has a Scenic Viewing Area. The history of the dam is now available at the Willmore Lodge.

Bridal Cave

Visitors must treat themselves to the unique attraction. In operation for over 55 years, this cave is filled with spectacular natural treasures: onyx formations, a maze of caverns and a sparkling lake. And if you’re wondering how the cave got its name, ask your guide to tell you about the legendary Indian wedding ceremony that was held in the cave in the early 1800s. Today this Native-American tradition is honored in the stalactite-adorned Bridal Chapel. Over 1,950 weddings have been performed here.

Since this was the Linn Creek School, the curators have used each classroom to exhibit antique household furnishings, tools, banking equipment and other items which recall the county’s past. Over 3,500 acres of natural beauty are offered for hiking, picnicking and outdoor enjoyment. Staff members staff the park office and a Park Naturalist conducts programs for schools and civic groups and other non-profit youth organizations. Two of the park’s main attractions are the ruins of an old mansion on a bluff and a spring which puts forth about 48 million gallons of water each day.

Jacob’s Cave

This is the largest and best decorated cave in the Lake of the Ozarks area. Visitors can take guided tours, directed by knowledgeable guides, through Missouri’s only fully handicapped accessible cave. The tour covers one mile and points out what makes Jacob’s Cave famous – depth illusion pools, ceiling sponge work, prehistoric bones. There are also soda straws, massive columns and other spectacular formations.

This spectacular park – the largest Missouri’s state parks – offers 17,000 acres and 89-mile shoreline, two swimming beaches and boat launching areas. Visitors can camp at one of the 182 paved campsites (many have electrical hookups), enjoy the hiking trails and go horseback riding. Among the most notable features of the park are: the suspension bridge which graces the Grand Glaize Arm of the Lake; nearby Grand Glaize Beach; Lake of the Ozarks Aquatic Trail, a buoy-marked trail with accompanying booklet to guide boaters to shoreline highlights and Ozark Caverns. The Ozark Caverns Visitor Center offers information on the cave, and a Trail Center provides trail information.

Mary, Mother of the Church Shrine

This shrine features an awe inspiring 14’ stainless steel sculpture of Mary overlooking the Mother’s Wall of Life, a Wall to honor all Mothers, living and deceased, regardless of religious affiliation. Thousands of flowers, fountains and a waterfall complete the scene. The shrine is located on the grounds of St. Patrick Church.

Visitors can find this museum in the Martian Hotel, a community landmark for over 150 years. Twenty-eight rooms reflect various themes including a chapel room, schoolroom and barber shop; the Miss Lucy room pays tribute to one of the last members of the Martian family to own the hotel. The Museum store is now open. Products for sale include locally hand-crafted items, old-fashioned toys and books written by local authors.

Guided tours of this cave are available and feature the resplendent Angel’s Showers. This natural phenomenon consists of streams of water constantly flowing from the cave’s stalactites. The visitor’s center features informative displays about the cave, and picnic sites and hiking trails are nearby.
